Artist Statement

I am a visual artist who is deeply connected with materials and likes to work with recyclable ephemera such as; card, newsprint and anything that provides a surface on which to paint, draw or print. My practice incorporates traditional fine art methods such as; drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and casting, as well as the more contemporary oeuvre of; installation, film and performance.

Matters of the environment and sustainability are often starting points for me and this is further informed by the extrinsic influences of people I meet, or the place where I live in the coastal town of Leigh on Sea. 

Migrating birds, the plastic issue, the cleanliness of our shores, the local community; specifically, people on the fringes of society, are currently poignant features in my work. 

My work attempts to confront the viewer with the issue, raise questions about what we are prepared to do as a race, to bring about balance and harmony on the planet, albeit locally or on a global scale.
